Coachella. Several hours drive from any Southwest US metro area…Indio California, a quiet little place…until this weekend that is (17-19 April 2009).

You can sit on a Polo Pitch with 100K+ of your closest friends and just as importantly your favorite bands! I love this festival even though I have never been. Why?

• Look at the line up. The Cure, The Killers, Paul McCartney…and so many I have NEVER heard of! All the better…Tony Momo is all about the new…something.
• Pearl Jam chose this site back in 1993 in part to protest the scum@#& monopolists at Ticket-you-know-who.
• I picked up a copy of the DVD back in 2006. Although the editing is frenetic and does not seem to finish anything it starts (most of the songs), it does capture the spirit of the event (I think). I just watched the video (again) on my ipod on trip to San Diego. Artsy cool!
• Interactive art (fire breathing robots, a giant plastic bubble…who knows what surprises for this year?) FEAR NO ART!
• New Coachella iPhone mobile application. Reviews are pouring in…mainly asking for sorting the days line ups by time and band…not alpha artist order. The app apparently is crashing often. A new release will be out VERY soon.
• Morrissey / Smiths influence on current line up

Dos and Don’ts

• Do bring: The tickets, naked lady playing cards, sunblock, a body condom (filled with ice…it is HOT in the desert), water, patience (you are going to need it…hot sweaty bodies in a twisted malestrom) and a sense of humor (if you don’t have this… you won’t know the difference).
• Don’t bring: STDs, the brown acid (this was the bad batch from Woodstock I), any thoughts of sexual acts described in the urban dictionary
