Music - Evolving Source of the New.
-
I am still amazed that people don’t like, EXACTLY, what I like but my music is an evolving source of the new.
Tony Momo, you little musical devil, after all I’ve got impeccable musical taste. Now, I’m talking to myself and you get to listen in - but Tony, if everyone liked what you liked, wouldn’t the world be…well… so very small? Yes, I guess so. Please turn off self talk and tune into the outside world. Goodbye me, hello to you.
Who would I disagree with? Where would the Yin to my Yang come from? Stay with me here…I am going somewhere.Doesn’t it fascinate you when people disagree so passionately? You either love The Cure or you hate them. I happen to love them. TV on the Radio…not my cup of tea. There are many bands that create this polar reaction. I get it. Sort of.
I have told ALL of my friends about Pandora, LastFM, Slacker…do you think any of them have the passion I have for these tools? Nope. Not one. This is a source of discovery people!
Hey Momo, maybe time for some new friends. I am working on it…Ahhh, do YOU want to be my friend? Why not? Is it something I wrote?
Our musical tastes evolve over the years. With any luck we expand our appreciation set. Once upon a time… Friend’s recommendations, FM Radio, College Radio, Record stores, Kiosks at record stores…then… BOOM internet Radio was born…create your own radio station…or 20…you provide the feedback and you get what you deserve. Hahahahahaha!
Even this seems a bit too closed minded. Perhaps you attend a music and arts festival like Coachella. Yep, or if you are thousands of miles away and the money is tight…look at the line up of artists and do the research (create a Pandora station with this artist). It won’t take long..
Question: Why do you put yourself through all of this Mr. Momo? A: The THRILL my new friends of falling in love with a new band and watching them grow.
But sifting through all that is out there is a lot like work. Pitchfork is a site that my friend came across that can help with the quest:
- Provides reviews of the new and some not so new (We all do not live in the same space and time continium). What is old for me may be new to you.
- The site is nicely laid out. Of course, there are Videos, Reviews, Top 50 albums and songs by year as rated by the Pitchfork staff (I like this..you?)
- And my favorite…Best New Music. It has a best new tracks section next to the reviews. You can listen and decide for yourself. Nice! Do I always agree with the reviews? You know what my answer is! Nahhhh! Only some…which makes it all worth while!
Tony Momo - Fan the flames of your passion!
