Mara Levi: Smart Pop Music
-
I happened upon a Washington DC metro based artist earlier today. I began by watching the “Drink It Down” Video. Momo was impressed. Mara Levi, armed with her acoustic guitar and a strong confident voice, sings of the taking of comfort…alcohol style. The lyrics flow as nicely as a cold beer washing down the hardships of a day.
Formally of Kid Sampson where she played bass for the now defunct band she is now on a West Coast swing. Mara will be in Ventura, CA tonight at Zoey’s Music Loft at 7:30PM. Tomorrow she in San Luis Obispo at Linneae’s 8:00PM.
The solo career began in 2002. Here is more of her bio:
Mara Levi is a Smart Pop musician who specializes in transcending musical genres and building live multi-layered loops to accompany her songs. Her music is catchy and intelligent, and mixes bluegrass, hip-hop, folk, pop, and jazz. Classically trained, Mara grew up listening to folk music, studied jazz composition, and fell in love with Rock and Roll. Mara has been touring nationally for six years, and has had great success with her CD, What Are You?
Give the video a look / listen. See if you agree.
