Cryptacize
-
My friends, I saw Cryptacize on Muxtape the other day and thought I would give them a listen. Catchy and Dreamy all in one. Dark and sad too. What a combo. How could this be? There is a harpsicord-like sound used in the two tunes I listened to:- I’ll take the long way
- Blue tears
I have to admit that I am at a loss for words to describe the core of what Cryptacize is all about. One spot had the band isted as Indie Folk. Hmmm…no, not quite. I turned to a number of spots before landing on this one from the Amazon Product Description:
“Cryptacize deals in the unforgettable melody, the forsaken chord, and the extravagant sentiment. The surefooted and richly nuanced vocal arabesques of Nedelle Torrisi, like a modern day Freddie Mercury or Ronnie Spector, strangely compliment the guitar of Chris Cohen, which sounds like a maniacally sped up Les Paul or staccato and funny like Roy Smeck or Adolph Jacobs of The Coasters. Syncopated drum corps rudiments and pit-orchestra rave-ups from Michael Carreira propel the songs with a refreshingly buoyant touch that never lapses into rock music clichés”.
What!?!?!?
Although I must admit that this was the best I could come up with, it too fell short of what my soul wants to tell you about this wonderfully unique and talented band. Give them a listen! I dare you to describe Cryptacize.
Tony Momo_strumming my harp!
