Stereolab: Space Pop
-
Stereolab’s Dots and Loops was featured at a Kiosk at Borders one rainy day in Florida several years ago. Bored to tears…I donned the headphones and was immediately transfixed. I fully expected a 1960s James Bond flick to unfold…almost.
Electronica, Lounge, Vintage 60s keyboards and Sexy vocals (upon occasion in French)…eye popping! The Groop Played “Space Age Bachelor Pad Music” OK, then, Tim Gane and Laetitia Sadier have been the constants and brains behind the band for nearly 20 years.Post Florida and years later, the always lovely, Laetitia Sadier was standing stage left before a Stereolab show at the 9:30 Club in DC . She was talk talking with members of the auience who had arrived early. I asked her if she would marry me. Observant as she was she said “You are already married”. Yep, so, we could move to Utah. Big Love. She gracefully made her way backstage. I took that as a NO. True story.
Go away Momo, leave this beautiful woman alone!
Tony Momo_Houndogging it!
